ABORIGINAL HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTRE OF WINNIPEG

Provides access to contemporary and traditional health and wellness resources that enhance the lifestyle and living conditions of the urban Aboriginal community. Healing is holistic, culture-based and accessible to all Aboriginal people. United Way supports the Mino-Pimatiziiwin (MP Healthy Living) Program which provides a continuum of services for First Nation, Métis and Inuit Aboriginal men currently residing in Winnipeg.

AGE AND OPPORTUNITY (A & O)

Offers services to improve the quality of life for seniors and their families. These include resource information, referrals, counselling, health and safety education, and advocacy. Information and supports related to finding a new place to live, recreation and volunteer opportunities are also available.

ANDREWS STREET FAMILY CENTRE

Provides a place in the community where families work to meet their own needs. United Way supports three programs at ASFC. The Pritchard Place Drop-in Centre offers a safe place for children and youth in the inner city. The Parents Helping Parents program provides outreach and practical support to families and their children. The volunteer program is an opportunity for community residents to strengthen their work skills.

ART CITY

Offers free art programs in a safe setting for youth and adults in the West Broadway neighbourhood. Through instruction and mentorship, art becomes a community-building tool. United Way supports a range of services including drop-in art classes, a healthy snack program, artist workshops, and annual events. Artists help youth and adults build their skills in pottery, painting, printmaking and photography.

(THE) ARTHRITIS SOCIETY

Promotes research and provides information and support to individuals living with the physical, psychological and emotional effects of arthritis. United Way supports a range of programs that help individuals better manage their disease and improve quality of life. These include counselling, education, pain management, exercise and self-managed care.

Works to improve the lives of people living with intellectual disabilities through referral and consultation services, workshops, and conferences.
