Committee is responsible for recruitment of Sponsored Executives from businesses and organizations in the community. These people act as an extension of campaign staff during the autumn campaign period.

David Angus has held the position of President and CEO at The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce since June 1999. Prior to taking the helm of The Chamber, David was an active member for more than a decade holding a variety of positions in the volunteer driven organization including Chair of the Small Business Task Force to Chair of the Board of Directors in 1996.

In his role as President and CEO David has represented The Chamber on numerous committees and panels including the City of Winnipeg’s Red Tape Commission, both the Image and Competitiveness task forces of the Premier’s Economic Advisory Council, the City of Winnipeg’s Zoning Advisory Committee, the Mayor’s Trade Council, and many more.

Under his leadership The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce has increased its membership to the highest level in the 133 years of the organization with over 1850 corporate members. As well, a recent Probe Research poll revealed The Chamber to be the most credible, trusted business organization in the province.

David’s business experience, which spans from small business owner to a manager in a large corporation, has provided him with a keen understanding of the issues facing Winnipeg business. David was previously Director of Marketing with Transcontinental Distribution, a division of Transcontinental Printing, as well as part owner of a family promotions business.

David is a committed Winnipegger with an appreciation for the quality of life and opportunities the City offers and has always been actively involved in many community activities and organizations. David currently sits on the Board as the Chair of the Prairie Theatre Exchange, was actively involved on the Campaign Cabinet for United Way of Manitoba, and is on the Executive of the YM/YWCA Board.

David’s professional involvement spans nationally through his participation as President (Past) of The Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada and is involved on the Board for The Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan.

David is a graduate of Transcona Collegiate and the University of Manitoba, having received a Bachelor of Commerce in 1982. He is married (Cindy) and has two sons.
