The Co-Chair of Event offers direction and support to plan and execute events that promote and create awareness for the annual campaign, including Kick-Off, report sessions and Celebration. They work with the Co-Chairs of Marketing & Communications to ensure United Way’s brand and message are clearly and effectively communicated in every function of marketing and communications.

Winnipeg born, Doneta Brotchie graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B. Comm (Hons) and began her business career with the Hudson’s Bay Company, where she held executive positions including Downtown Store Manager.

In 1990 she joined CIBC, where she became Senior Vice President and regional leader over Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Northwestern Ontario for the next 11 years.

Currently, through her company FUNdamentals-Creative Ventures, she is Project Director for Investors Group Canstruction Winnipeg, a unique design/build project creating giant sculptures from canned food, which in its first year attempted a Guinness world record for food raised in a 24 hour period. It benefits Winnipeg Harvest and Habitat for Humanity. Doneta also acted as Project Director for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation’s Bears on Broadway in 2005.

Doneta is on the Board of the Winnipeg Airports Authority and in March 2006 was elected as the first female President of The Manitoba Club in its 132 year history. She is also active in a variety of local volunteer and board roles with The Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Millennium Centre, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Military Forces Liaison Council and Grace General Hospital Foundation.
