Professions Division
The Professions Division includes legal, accounting, engineering and architectural firms, plus dental and medical clinics. In 2007, the workplace segment of the Professions Division raised $745,444 and the direct response segment raised $184,527.

Herb Peters obtained his B.A. from the University of British Columbia in 1977 and his LL.B. from Osgode Hall in 1980. After receiving his call to the bar in 1981, Mr. Peters worked at Scarth, Dooley, Olson & Wiens as an Associate and Articling Student. In 1987, he became an Associate with Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson until 1990 when he became Partner, Herb practices real estate law and general corporate commercial law. He is also a participant in the Real Property, Corporate Commercial and Financial Services practice groups at Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson.
Herb’s professional associations include: The Law Society of Manitoba, Bencher (1994-2001), Vice President of the Society (1999-2000), President (2000-2001 and Past President (2001-2002). Since 2000, he has been a member of Western Torrens Project which was established in Western Canada to update and improve the standards and process of residential real estate practice by lawyers. In 2003, Herb became Co-Chair of the project. Mr. Peters is also a member of the Manitoba Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association.
Herb’s community and Board associations include: Chair, Aikins Campaign, United Way of Winnipeg (1994-2000); Chair, Lawyers Campaign, United Way of Winnipeg (2003-2006); and presently the Professions Divisional Co-Chair with United Way of Winnipeg; Member of Legal Aid Manitoba Council (2005-present); Member of the adjudication panel created under The Human Rights Code; and Member of Fort Garry Mennonite Fellowship (as well as former chair of the planning committee).
