Labour Support Committee
The Labour Support Committee recruits union volunteers to solicit union accounts, supports joint labour/management campaigns and training by ensuring a labour presence, and also assists in co-ordinating the labour kick-off.

Mr. Pelzer is the President of the Winnipeg Labour Council. The Winnipeg Labour Council is affiliated with the Canadian Labour Congress and represents some 45,000 workers city wide through the membership of its 27 affiliates.

Mr. Pelzer has spent 20 years as an Optimist member. He was past President of the Transcona Optimist Club, South Winnipeg Optimist Club, and Optimist Clubs of Winnipeg Foundation Inc. He was past Vice President of South Winnipeg Optimist Club, Lieutenant Governor of Optimist International (District: Dakotas, Manitoba, Minnesota), and a board member of Camp Manitou.

The Optimist Clubs of Winnipeg are currently involved in many exciting projects to support the youth in our community including The Optimist International band festival in February, and the Optimist Circus which will be held in June. Other projects include the Oratorical Contest, Childhood Cancer Campaign, Junior Optimist Clubs, Junior Golf Championships, Safety on Wheels, an essay contest, and communication contest for the deaf & hard of hearing.
