Advancement Division
The Advancement Division includes a small group of accounts that have the potential to increase their level of support to United Way through strategically focused efforts by campaign volunteers and staff.
In 2007, the Advancement Division raised $308,514.

Steven Kroft received his B.A from the University of Manitoba in 1988 and his LL.B from the University of British Columbia in 1992. After receiving his call to the bar in 1993, Mr. Kroft worked at Fillmore Riley, Barristers & Solicitors. In 1997, he joined Conviron as Counsel and Vice President of Corporate Development where in 1998 he became President & Chief Executive Officer.

Steven’s professional and community affiliations include: Board Member, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters; Vice-President, Jewish Foundation of Manitoba; Member, University of Manitoba President’s Advisory Council; Board Member, The Winnipeg Rh Institute Foundation Inc.; Co-founder, The Goral Private Equity Fund – a Grow Winnipeg initiative to encourage entrepreneurs to build and grow their business in Winnipeg; Trustee, Prairie Theatre Exchange; Member of the Capital Campaign Leadership Team, The Asper Jewish Community Campus; Advancement Division Co-Chair, United Way of Winnipeg; Member, Young Presidents’ Organization; and Member, Young Associates of the Asper School of Business.

Mr. Kroft received the Harry Silverberg Community Leadership Award in 2007 and in 2005 was a prairie finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Also, in 2000, he received Manitoba Business Magazine’s “Best in Business” Award.

Steven and his wife Lisa have two sons Nathan (10) and Alex (8). In his free time, Steven enjoys golf, reading and current events.
