United Way's Health and Community Services Division
The Health and Community Services Division includes major hospitals, personal care homes, union locals, United Way agency partners and other community organizations. In 2008, the Health & Community Services Division raised $721,709.

As President of the Manitoba Nurses' Union (MNU), Sandi Mowat represents the interests of 11,000 members.

Sandi spent the majority of her nursing career in the ER department at Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre (HSC) as a Clinical Resource Nurse and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. More recently, she worked as a General Duty Nurse in the HSC Hemiodialysis Unit.

Sandi was first elected to the MNU board in 1999. An experienced negotiator, she represented HSC on the Provincial Collective Bargaining Committee for a number of years. As a provincial nurses' union leader, she represented members on the ER Task Force, the Joint Nursing Council, the Manitoba Nursing Advisory Council and the Winnipeg Hospital/Health Care Regional Nursing Advisory Committee.

Sandi has been a recipient of the HSC Nursing Excellence Award, as well as the MNU’s highest honour - the Yellow Ribbon Award for activism in the community and workplace.
