Cloudy skies and constant drizzle didn't dampen spirits during set up for the 18th annual United Way Golf Tournament.

Comm News - 18th Golf TourneyThe sun shone brightly minutes before golfers teed off at noon on Wednesday, August 4 at Pine Ridge Golf Club.

Golfer registration sold out well in advance, with many long-time supporters returning.

A total of 152 golfers and 38 teams participated, helping raise a record $79,000. Since its inception 18 years ago, the tournament has raised almost $520,000 for our community.

"Tremendous! That is the word that comes to mind regarding the United Way Golf Tournament," said Laura Kwiatkowski, 2010 Tournament Chair.

"The golfers, sponsors, organizing committee, event volunteers and staff made this tournament one of the most successful in the history of United Way. We couldn't be more thrilled!"

United Way would like to thank our sponsors, participants, volunteers and tournament committee, whose dedication, hard work and generosity ensured the success of this year's event.

All funds raised thanks to your efforts play a vital role in helping United Way create opportunities for a better life for everyone by providing kids with alternatives to crime, drugs and life on the streets; reducing poverty; and, building safer, healthier neighbourhoods.
