After 25 years at 5 Donald Street, United Way has completed its move to a new home in the heart of Winnipeg's downtown!

Relocation - Aug storySituated between Pacific and Alexander Avenues on Winnipeg's historic Main Street, the new location brings us closer to many of our community partners. We're also thrilled to be able to contribute to the revitalization of Winnipeg's core.

Although still under construction, the building already houses over 50 staff members who are enjoying a warm welcome in Winnipeg's beautiful Exchange District.

The new office also plays host to more than 40 Sponsored Executives, on loan from dozens of generous and community-minded employers and organizations. Working closely with our staff, this dynamic and determined team is already hard at work on the 2010 United Way Campaign.

Five Things You May Not Know About The New United Way Space:

It's about Community
  • The main floor houses a community learning centre
  • There's incubation space for not-for-profits and social entrepreneurs needing work space until they become established
Location, location, location
  • We're joining a number of other organizations kickstarting a Core-area revitalization
  • The Exchange is a beautiful, neighbourly place with great pastry!
NO donor dollars spent
  • Construction funded entirely through Province of Manitoba & Government of Canada stimulus grants as well as support from the City of Winnipeg
  • What wasn't covered by grants was made up for by a small group of long-time United Way supporters & committed Winnipeggers
  • CentreVenture engineered & financially contributed to land acquisition
It's cost efficient
  • Owning our own space will actually save money compared to the cost of leasing
It's green
  • The new building will be Silver certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-lowering operating costs AND helping the environment
