Bank Battle a Grand Slam for Winnipeg

Over 100 bankers traded balance sheets for baseball bats, hoping to hit a homerun in support of United Way and our community.

Royal Bank of Canada: Kings of the diamond for two straight years!
"This tournament is about awareness, community and having fun," says Brian Melnyk, General Manager, CIBC and United Way volunteer who organized the event. "It only takes one person to stand up and say, let's make a difference. Here we have 120!"
In 2007, the banks raised over $670,000 during United Way's annual campaign, Melnyk notes.
The heat was certainly on as the temperature peaked at 32 degrees, and the tournament headed into a fiery finish. It all came down to a tiebreaker between Royal Bank of Canada and BMO Financial Group to decide.
For the second year running, RBC were crowned champions, receiving a custom trophy for their fancy footwork and bringing home almost $3,000 for United Way's work in the community.
Everybody's a winner in our playbook. By stepping up to the plate, you're helping create opportunities for a better life for everyone.
