Just weeks before United Way's 2009 campaign kickoff, Winnipeggers were already revving up for success, raising over $5100 for our community in a single day with help from Esso and Pioneer Petroleums.

"We received overwhelming support from Winnipeggers who really got pumped up about the event and helped us raise over $4000 for United Way and the community," said Kirk Melville, District Manager for Pioneer Petroleums, the company behind eight participating Esso stations.
Customers were also invited to fill up on free hot dogs and drinks, served up by United Way volunteers. Responding with the generosity for which our city is famous, Winnipeggers donated another $1127.
"It's always great to see Winnipeggers rally together when it really counts," said Jeff Zabudsky, President and CEO of Red River College, and United Way's 2009 Campaign Chair. "If this is any indication of how willing Winnipeggers are to participate and get involved this year, we're going to do great things together in the coming months."
All money raised will go directly to United Way programs and strategies that give kids alternatives to crime, drugs and life on the streets, help reduce poverty and build safer, healthier communities.
Thanks to Pioneer Petroleums, Esso and everyone who came out to fuel support for lasting change and better lives through United Way of Winnipeg!
