This year's pull was bigger and better than ever featuring two categories--a Competitive Pull, with a Boeing 727; and a Fun Pull, with a McDonnel Douglas DC-9.
"I'm confident we'll meet the challenge," said Grant-Jury during the kick-off program, thanking this year's early-bird Pacesetter workplaces whose efforts have already taken us to 36 per cent of goal. "We really appreciate the enthusiasm these workplaces bring to the start of our Campaign," said Grant-Jury.
Following the program, nearly 1500 people from the business, labour and non-profit sectors gathered around the two planes as 40 teams, including the first ever Media All-Stars, duked it out for bragging rights and prizes.
Best Team Steam (fastest time) went to a burly and enthusiastic team of bouncers from Canad Inns with an unofficial time of 4.66 seconds in the competetive class. Fun pull winners Ceridian took their title with a very respectable time of 6.47 seconds. National Leasing won Team Scream (best cheer) and the Farm Income Program Directorate won for Team Theme.
But at the end of the day, it's not about pulling a plane, it's about one community pulling together for better lives, improved conditions and a stronger city for everyone who lives here.
