Spring Fever Infects Day of Caring Program

Spring has sprung and most of us will grudgingly sacrifice a day of warm weather for that monumental spring clean. But would you do it for someone else and pay for the privilege?

Storage crisis! Staff at Elmwood Community Resource Centre nail a few projects with the help of a "Pepsi Powered" Day of Caring.
A group of employees at The Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) would, and that's exactly what they did as part of a United Way Day of Caring.

Ten of the soft-drink giant's staff spent a day at Elmwood Community Resource Centre scrubbing, sorting and building some desperately needed shelving.  And at the end of the day they made a $1000 donation to the centre on behalf of the PBG Foundation.

"The people of The Pepsi Bottling Group care about their communities. It is part of a deep respect for our neighbours, surroundings and each other," said Eric Manraj, S & D Specialist at Pepsi. "PBG shares this commitment and supports our employees' efforts to give back to their communities."

United Way's Day of Caring program is a unique opportunity for a company, organization or group to help a United Way agency partner complete a much-needed project.

"They were absolutely fabulous," said Ingrid Zacharias, Executive Director of the centre. "We had a great time, made some friends and had a lasting impact on the Elmwood community."

Together, The Pepsi Bottling Group and United Way are helping create opportunities for a better life for everyone. Thanks PBG!
