Without volunteers, there would be no way

At United Way of Winnipeg, volunteers really do make the difference.

Over 450 young volunteers have participated in United Way's annual Youth Day of Caring.
As Chair of United Way's Community Investment Committee, Richard sees firsthand the remarkable insight, depth and value volunteers bring to the process. Representing the community's best interests, they work together to ensure a comprehensive network of essential programs and resources that will create opportunities for a better life for all Winnipeggers.
Indeed, in leading and supporting roles alike, United Way volunteers always take centre stage.
In 2009, more than 500 volunteers from 41 workplaces, schools and community groups participated in a United Way Day of Caring, completing a total of 91 short-term projects for United Way agency partners in need of additional human resources.
Over the past four years, more than 450 young people have worked together on several neighbourhood projects around Winnipeg through United Way's annual Youth Day of Caring.
Driven by volunteers, United Way's GenNext Council continues to provide opportunities for young business and community leaders aged 25 to 40 to connect and change lives together.
United Way volunteers are also connecting and sharing their opinions and ideas on our community's challenges and opportunities through the ongoing discussion that is Urban Exchange.
As well, we get a chance to see the impact our united efforts are having because volunteers like those on United Way's Speakers Bureau are generous enough to share their time and courageous enough to share their lives. Each has an incredible story to tell and all tell the story of United Way.
Thank you to all United Way volunteers for your dedication and for sharing United Way's vision for a better life for everyone. Happy National Volunteer Week! (April 18 - 24, 2010)
