On Friday, August 28, 2009, Winnipeggers will be able to fuel support for their community by filling up at participating Esso branded retail stations. For every litre of gas sold that day, Esso will generously donate one cent to United Way of Winnipeg.
"The event marks the grand opening of four new Esso On the Run convenience stores," says Kirk Melville, District Manager for Pioneer Petroleums, the company behind participating Esso stations.
"In the spirit of new beginnings, we're proud to support better lives and a brighter future for everyone in our community through United Way," says Melville. "This is a great way to demonstrate that it doesn't take much to make a big difference when we all work together."
Everyone is invited to stop by any one of eight participating Esso locations this Friday to show your support for United Way programs and strategies that create lasting change and better lives for all Winnipeggers:- 777 Keewatin Street
- 1300 McPhillips Street
- 1640 Kenaston Boulevard
- 845 Portage Avenue
- 1015 Notre Dame Avenue

Four On the Run locations on Notre Dame, Pembina and Taylor will also be hosting community barbeques between 11:00am and 3:00pm. Hotdogs and drinks are free, with donations to United Way encouraged.
HOT 103 morning host Chrissy Troy is set to broadcast live from 1059 Pembina Hwy., the #5 Edington Race Car from Winnipeg Speedway will be on display at the new Mobile One Lube Bay at 1330 Taylor Ave., and the Esso tiger will be on hand along with clowns and face painters for the kids.
