United Way of Winnipeg's 2008 Sponsored Executives (pictured here with staff members) celebrate a record-breaking campaign and the culmination of four months’ hard work.
As part of our Leadership Development Program (certified by the University of Manitoba), they work alongside staff and act as a vital link between United Way and volunteers in workplaces throughout the city.
In the process, SEs have a chance to increase their understanding of community issues and learn skills like fundraising, project management and public speaking.
Although only with us for a short 14 weeks, these special people always leave a lasting impression.
This year's group was no exception. Their dedication, talent and teamwork inspired Winnipeggers everywhere to pull together and raise over $17.9 million - the most money ever raised in a single year throughout United Way's 44-year history.
This is a particularly significant milestone, given the challenges a weakened economy has created for charitable organizations across the country.
Thank you to our 2008 Sponsored Executives and their generous sponsoring organizations for helping achieve some amazing results for our community.
Thanks also to sponsoring organizations whose generous financial support made it possible to hire additional SEs to complement the team: Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company and Wawanesa Life Insurance Company, Province of Manitoba - Department of Health and Department of Healthy Living, Manitoba Civil Service Commission, Manitoba Conservation and Manitoba Water Stewardship.
What a difference we make when we all work together, United!
