A new exhibition at Graffiti Art Gallery gives Winnipeggers an opportunity to view life in our city through the eyes of our youth.

A small sample of the work on display at My Life: My Lens - an art show featuring digital photos taken by young participants with support from United Way of Winnipeg.
The exhibition celebrates the end of a project that gave 174 kids from across Winnipeg a chance to express themselves through digital photography. Over the course of 24 workshops led by United Way agency partners Art City and Graffiti Art Programming, close to 9000 photos were produced. 200 of these are featured in the exhibition, along with multi-media displays and performances.
"The kids' enthusiasm is evident in the imaginative, spontaneous and vibrant work produced," said Cam Forbes, Executive Director of Art City.
The project was made possible by Winnipeggers everywhere who responded with extreme kindness to United Way's appeal for gently used camera equipment and accessories. In less than one month, individuals and groups donated dozens of cameras. Special thanks to everyone who donated a camera and to Don's Photo for their generous role in providing kids with the skills, experience and equipment to express themselves.
The exhibition is open to the public. It runs from Thursday, June 4 to Friday, June 12, 2009 at Graffiti Art Programming Gallery at 109 Higgins Avenue.
