It was a challenge that had Winnipeggers all a-Twitter!

BIG cheque from HOT103 host Ace Burpee and Blue Bomber Ian Logan no small gesture!

It began when HOT103 radio host Ace Burpee promised to donate $500 to United Way of Winnipeg if Blue Bomber safety # 31 Ian Logan became the first CFL player to attract 1000 Twitter followers.

As always, Winnipeggers rallied and helped the two achieve their goal in a matter of days. True to their word, Ace and Ian both chipped in and presented United Way with a very big cheque for $500 on Wednesday, November 3, 2009.

This challenge is a fantastic example of how easy it is to make incredible things happen when we work together toward a common goal.

To give you an idea of the impact this money will have, $500 will create opportunities for two youth to be matched with mentors who can help develop their self-esteem, confidence and ability to succeed in school and life.

Thank you Ace and Ian! Your dedicated and enthusiastic support for United Way is continuing to inspire lasting change and better lives for all Winnipeggers. And thank you to everyone who participated. Without you, there would be no way!
