The t-shirt designed by artist Darryle Caribou for United Way of Winnipeg's 2007 Campaign.
Darryle worked out of the Graffiti Art Gallery, an inner city arts program and United Way agency partner. An amazing individual who truly cared about our community, Darryle was a role model and mentor for aspiring young artists throughout the city. In 2007, Darryle designed United Way's annual campaign t-shirts and was also featured in United Way's 2007 campaign video.
Three of Darryle's last known paintings are on concrete sections of the Queen Elizabeth Bridge, near where he lost his life attempting to save a friend on July 3, 2009. (CBC News, Wednesday, July 8, 2009, "Graffiti artist identified as river victim").
Our condolences go out to Darryle's family and everyone at Graffiti Art Programming. Darryle, you will be missed by so many.
