FAQ
What kind of tickets does Dream Seats accept?
Currently, Dream Seats accepts Jets, Blue Bombers or Goldeyes tickets. If you have a different idea for a ticket donation, give us a call.
Because every child must be accompanied by an adult, we ask for a minimum donation of two tickets.
How do I donate my tickets?
Our online donation form captures all the necessary information for donating and distributing tickets. You can also give us a call at 477-5360.
How will the tickets be used?
United Way supports dozens of after school, mentoring or recreation programs. Dream Seats works with staff at our youth-serving agencies to identify young fans, arrange appropriate supervision, and coordinate transportation.
The kids who benefit are often from families living in low-income situations, experience geographic or physical barriers to accessing these kinds of opportunities, are newcomers, or from single parent households.
Who are United Way's agency partners?
United Way of Winnipeg supports a network of over 100 programs, partners and agencies in Winnipeg. Each works to create opportunities for a better life for everyone by helping kids be all they can be, moving people from poverty to possibility and inspiring healthy people and safer neighbourhoods. Can I direct my tickets to a particular agency?
We want the joy and memories you're creating with your donation to benefit as many kids from as many backgrounds as possible. To ensure fair and even distribution, we do not permit donor directed giving.
How much notice is required to donate a ticket?
The more notice we get, the better chance we have of finding the best fit for a young fan and particular game. If you'd like to donate to Dream Seats, we ask for at least one week notice, but will do our best to find a match up to 72 hours before a game.
How do the tickets get to United Way?
You can send them by mail, drop them off, or courier tickets to 580 Main Street. With sufficient notice, we can also arrange to pick tickets up.
When can I drop off tickets?
Tickets can be dropped off at United Way, 580 Main Street from 8:30 am until 7:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Can I get a charitable tax receipt for my ticket donation?
Yes. If you are the owner, you can request a charitable donation tax receipt for tickets with a face-value of $20 or more.
Can I request tickets directly for my own family or someone I know?
Dream Seats only distributes tickets through the network of United Way supported agencies. For a full listing of agencies, click here.
Can I donate cash?
Yes. Every dollar donated will be invested directly into programs delivered in our community through United Way's network of agency partners. Here are a couple of examples of what your support means:- The average price of a pair of Jets tickets ($280) would equip five kids in a sledge hockey league with sticks, picks, protective gloves or a helmet when they hit the ice this season, essential equipment their families may not otherwise be able to afford.
- The average price of a pair of Bombers tickets ($120) would purchase a year's worth of emergency rations at a youth shelter, where youth in crisis have an opportunity to work with staff to create a plan to work through their problems.
- The average price of a pair of Goldeyes tickets ($22) would povide two free art classes for one child, giving them a creative outlet in a safe environment, and instilling a lifelong love of learning.
