Youth scholarship winner a voice for child welfare

Jessica Edwards is using her own experience as a child growing up in the child welfare system to help other young kids in care who often face unique challenges.

For her involvement with Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg, she is receiving a $500 Youth Leaders in Action scholarship from United Way. Jessica was also featured on CityTv's CityHeroes segment on Wednesday, April 15, 2009.

"I feel honoured that I was chosen as a recipient," she says. The money will come in handy as Jessica pursues a degree in social work.
