Union Counselling
Operated by union workers, for union workers, the Union Counselling program offers confidential referrals, support, guidance and information to co-workers who are experiencing personal issues related to addiction, financial management, stress, domestic violence and unemployment.
Trained through the Canadian Labour Congress Union Counsellor program, a Union Counsellor is a volunteer or may be appointed by their local union. Union Counsellors are not a therapists or specialists; they are there to listen, identify, refer and follow up, acting as the link between a worker with a problem, and the appropriate service in the community.
If you're interested in providing a support to your co-workers and serving as a vital link between locals, United Way and community services, contact our Labour Director to find out what opportunities are available.
