Run a Workplace Campaign
Each year between September and December, nearly 1100 organizations and thousands of employees from all sectors participate in a United Way workplace campaign. (Some, called Pacesetters, get involved even earlier and complete their campaigns before the official kickoff) And while the main goal is to raise money in support of programs and strategies that help kids stay in school and out of gangs, families take care of one another, and neighbours create safe, vibrant neighbourhoods, getting involved in a United Way workplace campaign has other benefits too.
The added benefits of a United Way workplace campaign:- Fun! For a few weeks each year, you and your co-workers can challenge one another in any number of creative and engaging activities and events. Put the "fun" in fundraising with a talent show, cook-off, scavenger hunt or auction. You're limited only by your imagination, good taste and employer's endorsement
- Pride and moral: feel good knowing you're doing good, and that you work for an organization that cares
- Teambuilding: get to know your co-workers
- Personal development: develop new skills like project and time management, leadership, event planning and public speaking
- Awareness: learn more about our community
Regardless of the size of your organization or whether there are five or 500 employees, participation in a United Way workplace campaign is a tremendously rewarding experience in every way. You'll feel great knowing you're changing lives, plus the most creative, engaging and best-led workplace campaigns are eligible for United Way Spirit Awards during a special presentation each January.
Rally your co-workers and help change lives, including your own, by organizing a United Way campaign in your workplace. Join your existing campaign team or start something new. There are several ways to get involved and many important roles beginning with Employee Campaign Chair. United Way staff and volunteers are available to help every step of the way.
